Cell analysis

Cell analysis

Flow cytometry is an effective method for characterizing structures on and within cells in greater detail. The use of fluorescently labelled antibodies that bind specifically to the respective target epitopes provides a detailed analysis of a wide variety of structures.

Surface markers (e.g. CDs = cluster of differentiation), intracellular epitopes (e.g. cytokines), and intranuclear epitopes (e.g. transcription factors) can all be detected. Cell cycle analyses, proliferation assays, and apoptosis assays can also be performed using flow cytometry.

The analysis of cells or other biological structures provides researchers with deep insights into biology and opens up opportunities for solving complex problems.

Configuration

Successful detection of the fluorochromes used depends strongly on the configuration of the device, i.e. on the available LP (longpass) and BP (bandpass) filters in the flow cytometer.
With the help of the device-specific configuration, an optimal panel can be created.

Training

Training on the flow cytometer
Training on the flow cytometer

Basic

We offer hands-on training for our analyser (BD Symphony A1). The training (3x2 hours) is conducted with only one user in order to make the training as efficient as possible. A training module is spread over at least two weeks. After successfully completing the training, the flow cytometer can be used independently.

Advanced

Additional instruction (2 hours) is required for the use the plate reader (HTS) and the small particle detector (SPD).

Agendo booking software

The availability and booking of each instrument are handled via the Agendo booking software. Assisted usage can also be booked by arrangement with the Core Facility Cytometry.

Independent use and booking of the instrument is only possible after successful completion of our training. You will then receive the access information for Agendo and the corresponding instructions from our Core Facility.
