The ULMTeC Core Facility Transgenic Mice has been in operation since July 2011 under the overall management of Prof. Dr. Thomas Wirth and the technical management of Ms. Olena Sakk.

Our services include:

  • Generation of new transgenic mouse lines
  • Cryopreservation and storage of mutant mouse lines
  • Revitalisation of cryopreserved mouse embryos
  • Rederivation of individual contaminated or newly delivered mouse lines

For further information please see the documents below and contact us regarding your questions and projects!

Cryopreservation of Mouse Lines

The mouse cryobank is a collection of frozen biological samples such as embryos and/or sperm from mice, which are stored for research purposes and serve to preserve genetic variability and provide models for various studies in genetics, biomedicine and other scientific fields.

The Core Facility is responsible for the systematic collection, storage and redistribution of biomaterials in an organised, logistical and secure manner.

Currently, the Core Facility's cryobank stores over 470 different mouse lines, which have been collected since 2011.

The database is updated annually. In addition to storage, the service also includes the provision of samples.

For the revitalisation of the entire organism, our cryopreserved material, in combination with suitable reproduction technologies, represents an effective approach to the management of research models.
