The ULMTeC Core Facility Viruses offers a broad spectrum of services in the context of replication-competent viruses and replication-incompetent viral vectors. Application examples are oncolysis, tracking of neuronal connections, investigation of therapeutic interventions, knock-out of genes, simulation of gene defects, expression modulation, protein interaction studies, cell line generation, vaccination etc.
Standardized production, purification and characterization of viruses/viral vectors requires expertise and an appropriately equipped and approved genetic engineering facility. We would like to provide academic research groups and, depending on the research question and capacity, also industry with easy access to high-quality viruses/vectors and work with them so that they can focus entirely on their research focus.

Services
The services provided include:**
- Consulting (Which vector for what? Vector design, safety classification, genetic engineering ...)
- Production, purification/concentration, titration of:
Viral vectors for modulating gene expression | Adenoviral vectors (AdVs), lentiviral vectors (LVs), adeno-associated viral vectors (AAVs) |
Vaccination platform | Adenoviral vectors (AdVs), vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV)-based vectors |
Wild-type and reporter viruses (currently under construction)** | Measles virus (MeV), influenza virus (IAV), VSV, coronaviruses, adenoviruses (Ad) |
Oncolytic viruses (currently under construction)** | MeV and variants, VSV variants, conditionally replicating adenoviruses (crAds) |
Neurotracer (currently under construction)** | Rabies-based viral vectors |
