Our mission

Biomedical research continues to rely on animal testing, but innovative alternatives such as organoids, bioprinting and microfluidics offer increasingly promising solutions. Our goal at the integrated 3R Centre (i3R Centre Ulm) is to consistently promote the 3R principles (Replace, Reduce, Refine). By bundling existing activities and integrating them into the Baden-Württemberg 3R network, we are driving the change towards the best possible, indispensable animal experiments at the highest level with minimal stress and animal-free methods. By combining the best possible methods, we want to raise awareness among students, researchers, the public and approval authorities, provide advice and resources and develop new innovative approaches to make Medicine research more sustainable and ethical. Together, we set standards for future-oriented scientific research.
