Janina is interested in the synthesis and characterization of bioactive hybrid materials. These hybrid materials consist of silica nanoparticles as framework and peptide-based ligands, which are suitable for targeted drug delivery on the one hand and for prolonging the circulation of the particles in the blood on the other hand. Thus, efficient transport of drugs to specific cells can be ensured by means of silica nanoparticles.
