The Ulm- ClimateAdaptationand ResilienceExperiment(U-CARE), a long-term project specially set up for teaching purposes, has been running in the Botanical Garden since spring 2025. As part of various courses, students are investigating the effects of increasing drought and warming on plants, animals and soil processes in a meadow. In order to simulate dry periods, dry roofs are used to keep out precipitation. The dry roofs are dismantled over the winter to protect them from possible snow loads. The roofs were dismantled this week; the dry roofs are scheduled to be reinstalled in spring 2026.
