Molecular Donor-Akzeptor-Dyads for Single-Material Organic Solar Cells

Ulm University

The covalent linkage of an oligothiophene and a fullerene via an alkyl ester spacer leads to donor-acceptor dyads, which represent ambipolar organic semiconductors for application as single photoactive component in organic solar cells. Thereby power conversion efficiencies of up to 4.3% were achieved. Single material solar cells stand out for simplified processing and impressive long term stabilities of the devices. The remarkable results are described in our latest publication with the title „Molecular Donor-Acceptor Dyads for Efficient Single Material Organic Solar Cells” which just was published in RRL Solar 2021, 5, 2000635 and is dedicated to Prof. Franz Effenberger on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
