About the profile “Financial Economics” and career opportunities
Our teaching programme focuses on the areas of investment management, risk management, corporate finance and valuation. Our courses are practice-orientated with a solid methodological and theoretical foundation. Our aim is that students can master the modern tools used in the industry, but that they are also able to critically evaluate these tools and understand their foundations. In the courses, practictal work with the computer plays an important role. For example, students will analyze data or code an automated investment strategy..

Of course, the profile is also an excellent preparation for doctoral studies in finance.
Topics covered in our courses
The breadth of the course programme allows you to focus on your interests. There are no compulsory courses. If you are more interested in risk or investment management, the Credit Analysis and Investment and Risk Management courses as well as the Project Class in Asset Management are ideal. Asset Pricing and Advanced Financial Intermediation provide important fundamental knowledge of capital markets. Research in Finance is the perfect preparation for your master's thesis. Blockchain Fundamentals introduces you to the world of blockchains and cryptocurrencies. The range of courses is also regularly expanded by guest lecturers. If you spend a semester or two abroad as part of your MSc studies, you can of course have achievements credited towards your profile. In addition to the lectures, a sufficient number of seminars from the specialisation area are offered.

You will find a complete list of selectable courses together with a plan for the coming semesters in this document. There are no compulsory courses. You can combine freely.
