Braak Brain and Tissue Bank

The Braak Brain and Tissue Bank is a non-commercial tissue biobank accessible to the scientific community, which mainly contains human tissue from the central and peripheral nervous system. Scientists can submit an application for scientific use. Applications can be submitted by all research groups.

The brain bank contains human brains and, in some cases, other tissues from approximately 5,000 individuals. Neuropathological diagnoses are available for some specimens (e.g., Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease).

The scientific use of the tissue biobank has been approved by the Ulm Ethics Committee (application number 69/25).

If you are interested, please contact us by email with a brief summary of your study idea before submitting your application. We will then inform you about the application process.
