Welcome to the Graduate & Professional Training Center Ulm - ProTrainU
ProTrainU is the central coordinating office to support young researchers at Ulm University in the following areas:
- general advising
- career development
- start-up funding for doctoral candidates, postdocs and early stage researchers
On our website you will find general information about pursuing a doctorate at Ulm University, an overview of possible contact persons for questions about academic careers, the courses offered by ProTrainU and other university submissions, as well as information about possible start-up funding.
If you miss anything or have recommendations which might be helpful for others as well, e.g. ideas for courses, please contact us.

Announcement Young Researchers' Science Day 2025
Your idea - Your stage - Your funding!
Do you have a promising project idea? Then don't miss your chance!
Receive up to €50,000 to realize your project!
Who can apply? Doctoral researchers from the 3rd year onwards and postdoctoral researchers from all faculties.
How it works:
- Check the eligibility requirements
- Submit your intention to apply by August 1, 2025
(mail to protrainu@uni-ulm.de) - Submit your project idea by Wednesday, August 20, 2025
- Live-Pitch at the Science Day on October 22, 2025
The two best proposals will be awarded:
1st place: €50,000
2nd place: €30,000
(Funding for materials, equipment and assistant staff)
