Welcome to the Graduate & Professional Training Center Ulm - ProTrainU
ProTrainU is the central coordinating office to support young researchers at Ulm University in the following areas:
- general advising
- career development
- start-up funding for doctoral candidates, postdocs and early stage researchers
On our website you will find general information about pursuing a doctorate at Ulm University, an overview of possible contact persons for questions about academic careers, the courses offered by ProTrainU and other university submissions, as well as information about possible start-up funding.
If you miss anything or have recommendations which might be helpful for others as well, e.g. ideas for courses, please contact us.

NEW: Ulm Postdoc Research Grant
Funding for postdoctoral researchers at Ulm University (excluding Medical Faculty) to prepare competitive third-party funding applications: project-related costs (e.g. student assistants, consumables, travel, equipment) up to €20,000, duration up to 12 months.

Announcement of election results
We are pleased to welcome the following new members to the ProTrainU board:
Representing doctoral students:

Representing postdoctoral researchers:
- Dr. Matthias Mack (Faculty of IIP) and
- Dr. Vera Münch (Faculty of Medicine)
We congratulate the elected members and thank for their willingness to take on responsibility and support our junior academy at Ulm University.
Their term of office is two years, beginning on January 1, 2026, and ending on December 31, 2027.
We look forward to working with them on the board!
