New Guest from Brazil

Ulm University

We welcome Dr. Bruno Onishi at IABC!

Dr. Bruno Onishi made his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry at São Paulo State University (UNESP), Araraquara, São Paulo, Brazil, where he conducted research on the development of hybrid materials based on carbon dots and laponite for heavy metal sensing in wastewater, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sidney José Lima Ribeiro.

During his Ph.D., he spent one year at the University of Aveiro (UA), Portugal, where he investigated solid-state emission in carbon dot-based hybrid materials and contributed to the development of sustainable luminescent solar concentrators, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Luís Carlos and Prof. Dr. Maria Rute (PhANTON Group – CICECO).

He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of São Paulo (Institute of Chemistry of São Carlos), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Danilo Manzani. His current research focuses on organic–inorganic hybrid materials, including europium-doped carbon dots and europium coordination compounds, for applications in volatile organic compound (VOC) sensing.

His main research interests include photonic nanomaterials, organic–inorganic hybrid systems, clay-based materials, and their applications in sensing technologies.

Welcome Dr. Onishi!
