C-H-Activated direct arylations

A novel method for the Palladium-catalyzed direct arylation of dithienopyrroles (DTP) was developed and presented. By carefully selecting the catalytic system, Pd source, ligand, and additives, we achieved either selective N-arylation or unprecedented β-arylation and β,β’-diarylation of the DTP core. For N-substituted DTPs, we obtained regioselective arylation of the α-position(s). All in all, a series of novel regioselectively substituted DTPs were straightforwardly prepared and can be applied as building blocks for organic electronic materials.
