FIT4U – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
FIT4U is specially developed to prepare international Master's students with the intention of graduating specifically for the requirements of the job market in the Ulm economic region.
All international students enrolled in an English-speaking Master´s degree (despite Molecular Medicine) at Ulm University are eligible to join FIT4U.
You can register by filling out the registration form available here
Please note: You are not registered with just filling out the registration form. We will send you an application form and after submitting the form, you will receive a confirmation email. Registration helps us to include you in our internal list and in the moodle-course. So you keep informed about upcoming events and opportunities.
No, registration is not mandatory for all events. However, being officially registered ensures that you are part of the network and it helps us plan events more efficiently. Registered FIT-participants benefit from numerous advantages. Course material such as German language workbooks are only free for official FIT-participants.
FIT4U offers a wide range of services, such as:
Career workshops (CV writing, job hunting in Germany)
Networking events like Coffee Hours or Get-togethers
German Language courses. In addition to regular German courses, there are also vocational German courses and specialized language courses (perfectly tailored to English-speaking master's programmes).

We also work closely with other university services to offer you the best possible service.
No, all FIT4U activities and workshops are free of charge for international degree-seeking students at Ulm University. If you join a FIT4U-German course, you even get your books and learning materials for free. At FIT4U-networking events snacks and drinks are complementary.
Yes! We will provide you a certificate if you have attended a workshop organized by FIT4U. The certificate is an official document from the University of Ulm that you can use for your application documents. Once you have completed the entire FIT4U program (you can find the FIT points program here), you will receive a certificate listing all of your courses.
We welcome your ideas! You can email us (fit4u@uni-ulm.de) or talk to the FIT4U team directly at events. It’s a great way to contribute and build soft skills.
The Buddy Program connects new international students with experienced students to offer personal guidance and help with settling in.
FIT4U, on the other hand, is a broader program focusing on preparing students for the German job market.
No, participation is flexible to a certain extend. You can choose events and offers that suit your interests, needs, and schedule. In order to receive a FIT certificate for all the courses you have attended at the end of your studies, you should collect enough FIT points. You can find an overview here.
No, FIT4U activities do not count for academic credit, but you can receive a participation certificate if you are attending a workshop offered by FIT4U.
Almost all events are conducted in English to ensure accessibility for international students. Of course, German Language Courses are held in German. We always announce in our event overview if German is required.
Yes! FIT4U also offers orientation sessions and "Welcome" events tailored for students who are new to Ulm University. These help you get started, make connections, and ask questions.

You can still participate! Even if you may not complete the full point requirement in a shorter time, you’ll still benefit from the activities and support.
Yes, all events are open to international students. However, if the number of participants is limited and there are many registrations, FIT participants will be given priority.
Absolutely! FIT4U is flexible. You can still complete the program by attending upcoming events or participating in online offerings to collect your points.
