We investigate the short- and long-term mental and physical consequences of adverse childhood experiences. Our work focuses on the mechanisms through which early trauma shapes health across the lifespan. We examine the interplay of neurobiological, stress-physiological and psychosocial factors, including inflammatory processes and allostatic load.
Combining clinical and epidemiological approaches, our research aims to better understand these pathways and to identify targets for prevention and intervention. In doing so, we contribute to the MTW research programme, particularly to the study of the interaction between mind and body in the aftermath of trauma.
