Work package 4: Transposing the educational network into future research and teaching activities

The sustainability of the educational network is based on intensive collaborations between the involved partners. Therefore we encourage future or already existing activities beyond the duration of the current project.

A Research Matrix was designed to give a general overview about the main focus of research at the respective partner universities and where they overlap.

Guest teaching

One of the already existing collaborations is the course "Wetland Ecology" at Ulm University (Germany), which is organised by Dr. Tomáš Picek from the University of South Bohemia (Czech Republic) and the research group of Prof. Dr. Marain Kazda from Ulm University (Germany).

Furthermore a "Chemical Ecology Mini-Course" was offered in April 2016 by PD Dr. Stefan Jarau (Ulm University, Germany) at the Aix-Marseille University in France.

During "Soil and Plants" several teaching activities were performed by Prof. Marian Kazda at the University of Life Sciences in Tartu in November 2016.

In March 2017, Prof. Alar Astover visited the University of South Bohemia; in return, Mgr. Eva Kastovska came to the Estonian University of Life Sciences in October 2017.

Short Guidelines for Unique Methods

All project partners are experts in different fields of research.

We collected and summarized some of the methods that are used in the institutes of the project consortium. We hope this helps establish new collaborations based on the respective research methods.

The methods deal with the topics:

  • Soil Respiration
  • Soil Zoology
  • Allelopathy
  • Soil Physics
  • Oxygen Measurement in Soil Samples
  • Experimental climate change – precipitation manipulation

They can be found here.
