Of course you have to install your own software on the H: drive or under Linux in your own home directory, which is at the expense of your own disk quota. Alternatively, you can ask us at SGI whether something can be pre-installed. This depends, for example, on whether licenses have to be paid for or whether the software is of general interest.
Unwanted Third-Party Software aka “Trojan”
Trojans are sometimes installed unintentionally. To protect you from this, we set some places under Windows to read-only at every login, which may prevent you from installing the software you want or, if things go wrong, from uninstalling a Trojan that has already been installed. Which locations we set to read-only varies, but we offer a script that unlocks all locations. To be used manually after a login, works until logout. Can be found at
start → All Programs → SGI → undo_read_only(.bat)
