Master Module Genetics and Cell Biology

Registration

The module "Genetics and Cell Biology" is offered for students enrolled in the Master's program "Biology" or "Biochemistry". It is open for 12 students and takes place in the second half of the summer term. 
The enrolment is managed by the study commission for Biology/Biochemistry.
Please watch the bulletins and/or announcements by the study commission. 

Students joining from foreign universities or a German technical college (FH) must undergo a short pre-registration exam to ensure technical equivalence. 
If you changed from another German university and have studied Biology or Biochemistry, please submit a full transcript of records to thomas.gronemeyer(at)uni-ulm.de for equivalence inspection or drop by for a short interview. 

Students can attend to the lecture and/or literature seminar separately (3 credit points each).

Contents

The complete module comprises of a total of 18 credit points and contains the following complementing courses: 

1) Lab course (6 weeks full time; 2nd semester half) including a short presentation of the results (12 CP)

2) Lecture "Molecular Cell Biology" (3 CP)

3) Literature Seminar (student presentation) (3 CP)

Student's achievements and examination

Major subject students (full module): 
Each student submits an individual written report for the lab course.
Final oral exam about the contents of the lecture, seminar and lab course (18 CP, graded).

Minor subject students: 
Students can take the lecture and the seminar in combination or separately. 
They can get an ungraded certificate of attendance of 3 CP for each course or take an oral exam for the lecture to obtain a grade for 3 CP.
