Research
Anita Marchfelder and her group are interested in analysing the RNA metabolism of halophilic archaea. Research currently focusses on five major projects (see list below). You will find details about these projects by clicking on the respective links:
- CRISPR-Cas functions beyond the defence - SPP2141
- Archaea
- The prokaryotic immune system CRISPR-Cas
- Small regulatory RNAs
- Ribonucleases
- Small proteins in Archaea
Bork Berghoff and his group are interested in gene regulation, RNA biology and stress resilience in bacteria. Research focusses on:
Frank Bengelsdorf and his group are interested in the physiology and metabolism of strictly anaerobic bacteria. Research currently focusses on three main areas (for details click here):
- Metabolic engineering of the acetogenic bacteria Acetobacterium woodii, Clostridium ljungdahlii, and Eubacterium callanderii
- Anaerobic synthetic co‑cultures and sequential C1-fermentation
Bacteria from anaerobic environments
