"Wild Diversity in the Garden" - Annual programme of the Botanical Garden of Ulm University

The Botanical Garden of Ulm University will also be presenting a diverse and inspiring programme in 2026. In addition to the "Botanical Garden Week", which showcases the wild diversity of our gardens, biodiversity is also the theme of the "Biodiversity Week". Visitors of all ages can also look forward to annual highlights such as the summer fête and the colourful autumn. Activities for children and young people during the school holidays complement the garden's educational programme.

A special highlight in 2026 is the Botanical Garden Week. From 13 to 21 June, the focus in Ulm will be on "Wild Diversity in the Garden". It will showcase the amazing biodiversity discovered during the "BioBlitz 2025" observation campaign in the participating Botanical Gardens - and how this diversity can be promoted and preserved in your own garden. The "Biodiversity Week" (17–22 May) in cooperation with the Neu-Ulm District Office is also dedicated to local biodiversity in several events.

Visitors can look forward to guided tours, workshops and lectures throughout the year. These include various series of courses on species knowledge, microscopy and the fascination of botany. Once a month, the Botanical Lunch Break offers a free 30-minute look at the special relationship between nature and art in different eras from antiquity to Expressionism (Thursdays, 12.15 pm). The Botanical Garden and the Friends of the Botanical Garden jointly invite you to the Summer Fête on Sunday, 21 June, and to the Colourful Autumn on 4 October (both starting at 2.00 pm).

The Botanical Garden of Ulm University is setting a new accent in the area of qualifications: together with the Umweltakademie Baden-Württemberg, on 26 June interested parties can for the first time acquire not only the bronze but also the silver Field Botany Certificate. The examination tests knowledge of 200 or 400 of the most common native vascular plant species and their families.

Another focus in 2026 will be on programmes for children and families. Particularly noteworthy is the new holiday programme "Time Travel through the History of Mankind", which takes place both during the Whitsun holidays (1–3 June) and the summer holidays (31 August–4 September). The holiday programme is complemented by tried-and-tested formats such as the popular torchlight tours through the greenhouses in the winter half-year, a species knowledge rally on 31 July and the naturalists' club (8 dates from May to July).

An overview of all events, information and particulars on costs and registration can be found on the Botanical Garden's homepage: https://www.uni-ulm.de/einrichtungen/garten/
The printed programme is available to the public in many places in Ulm and the region. Link to the events calendar: https: //www.uni-ulm.de/einrichtungen/garten/information/veranstaltungskalender/veranstaltungen-2026/
