Pharmaceutical and Molecular Biotechnology

Master of Science (MSc)

Pharmaceutical and Molecular Biotechnology

Are you interested in the development and production of modern medicines? Innovative RNA, protein and cell-based therapies? Bioinformatics and AI-supported drug development? Then you've come to the right place!
Pharmaceutical and Molecular Biotechnology (PMB) combines pharmaceutical research with modern therapeutic approaches and teaches how bioinformatics and AI can be used effectively in these processes. The programme specifically prepares you for demanding positions in the biopharmaceutical industry, research and development. The newly aligned programme will start at Ulm University in the winter semester 2026/2027, replacing the previous Master's programme in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (PBT).

More about the course

The new Pharmaceutical and Molecular Biotechnology (PMB) degree programme focuses on protein, RNA and (stem) cell-based therapies, which are increasingly shaping the development of new drugs.
This is complemented by teaching bioinformatic approaches – including the targeted use of artificial intelligence – for analysing complex biological data and developing and manufacturing active substances.
The result is a programme at the interface of molecular biology, pharmacy and data-driven biotechnology.
