​​​​​​​The application procedure is structured in 2 stages. After reviewing the written applications (stage 1), the Clinician/Medical Scientist Board will decide which applicants will be invited to present their project (stage 2). This presentation round is expected to take place in mid-March 2026. Once a date has been set, it will be announced here.

Applications for the Medical Scientist Program can now be submitted again. The aim of this young researcher program is to promote excellent postdocs (except clinically active postdocs) with the career goal of being eligible for W2/W3 professorships. The program is aimed at postdocs with basic experience (at the earliest three years after completing their doctorate) who want to make an important career step within the university medicine in the fields of biomedicine and molecular medicine.

The program is designed for a total of six years with an interim evaluation in the 3rd year (3 + 3 years).

An annual progress report (no more than 3 pages) must be submitted. Please submit this to the coordination office by email at least 2 months before the end of the respective project year.

Progress reports from the 2026/2029 funding period onwards will be submitted via the application portal of the Medical Faculty.

In the third year (after 2 years and 6 months) there is an interim evaluation with submission of an interim report and presentation to the Clinician/Medical Scientist Board and Advisory Board.

Grant holders are required to submit a final report within six months after the end of the funding. Please use the form provided and send the document per e-mail to the coordination office.
