Looking back at the Faculty Celebration 2026: Honouring special achievements at the faculty

Within the Long Evening of Science, the Faculty of Mathematics and Economics hosted the presentation of the awards for the best graduates in the various study programme of the 2025/2026 graduating class. The event provided visitors with the opportunity to meet outstanding graduates and gain fascinating insights into current research and its applications within the faculty.

Before the presentations began, sponsors, prize winners and members of the faculty came together for a reception. This provided an opportunity for personal conversations, networking and exchange between academia, industry and the award-winning graduates.

Award recipients then presented their theses in short talks, impressively demonstrating the diversity of the Faculty’s degree programmes. The presentations covered the fields of Mathematical Data Science, Biometry, Finance, Sustainable Management, Business Mathematics, Mathematics Teacher Education as well as the interdisciplinary  programme Computational Science and Engineering, organised in cooperation with Ulm University of Applied Sciences. The event reflected the broad spectrum of modern mathematical and economic education – ranging from data-driven analyses and sustainable business strategies to computer-based simulation and modelling methods.

Special thanks go to the sponsors of the awards, whose support makes it possible to recognise outstanding academic achievements. Through their commitment, the sponsors help to highlight academic excellence and encourage young researchers and graduates in their future careers. The award ceremony therefore underlined not only the high quality of education within the Faculty, but also the close connection between the university, industry and social responsibility.

The event was also an excellent example of how science and research can be communicated in an understandable, application-oriented and forward-looking manner as part of the Long Evening of Science. Numerous guests took the opportunity to exchange ideas with the graduates as well as with academic staff and students of the faculty.
