Examination board Mathematical Data Science

Duties and information

For extension of time (for thesis etc.) contact the office of the examination board with a suitably justified request in due time. Please note that any medical certificates submitted must describe illnesses and their effects in such a way that the examination board can form its own judgement as to how the effects relevant to studies and examinations can be compensated for. Certificates must state that an examination has been carried out by the certifying doctor and the date of the examination.

For approval and classification of examinations from other institutions and universities abroad please prepare the appropriate forms and information (see below) and send them to the coordinator exchange and double degree programmes, Leonie Langer. You should include complete information on the course(s) such as amount of hours and credit points, complete description of contents or module description, certification of the examination including grade or points reached of total points or percentage or a learning agreement as well as a declaration in what field (such as Stochastics or Algebra) the course should be approved.

Regulations and module book

Signing of BAföG applications

The necessary signature for a BAföG applications (usually form 5 or "Studienabschlussförderung" for an extension) can be obtained from Dr. Liebezeit during consultation hours. Please fill out the form as much as possible beforehand.

Decisions of the examination board

On 12.7.2023, the examination board passed the following resolution (courtesy translation):

The examination board Mathematical Data Science decides that the module Functional Analysis for Data Science can be replaced by other modules from the field of Functional Analysis with a minimum of 5 CP and that the module Mathematical Statistics can be replaced by other modules from the field of Mathematical Statistics with a minimum of 9 CP.

This decision is implemented via compulsory elective areas that are passed with at least 5 (functional analysis) or at least 9 CP (mathematical statistics). If more than the minimum CP are completed, the regulation from §11 paragraph 3 of the FSPO applies for the overall grade. The number of CPs to be completed in the compulsory elective area according to §14 paragraph 1 point B of the FSPO remains unaffected.
