ySPPCC

This year’s ISPPCC will be accompanied by the y(oung)SPPCC – a pre-symposium specifically designed by and for PhD researchers and young postdocs. It offers participants the opportunity to come together in a more intimate setting, get to know each other, and prepare for the big conference. The main focus of the ySPPCC is to facilitate scientific exchange between the new generation of researchers by interactive presentation and networking formats in small groups, accompanied by interesting (tutorial) lectures by invited speakers.

The ySPPCC is taking place 23rd-25th of July.

The ySPPCC program kicks off on Sunday evening, 23rd of July, with some high-energy scientific speed dating. Exchange information on your current research, ask questions, learn about exciting new fields of research, and most importantly, get to know each other. The event is accompanied by snacks and drinks in a relaxed atmosphere.

Monday’s program will focus on the PhD research. In the so-called PhD talk sub-sessions, we want to create a space that encourages exchange beyond just the presentations: instead of speaking in front of the entire audience, during each sub-session, three smaller scale presentations will take place back to back in different rooms at the same time. Presenting speakers will be informed on their sub-session partners’ talks and get to prepare questions in advance. Listeners can choose to actively participate in the discussions following the talks, or use their phones to submit questions and interesting talking points to the presenters. We are excited to read your submissions!

For the last day of the ySPPCC, Tuesday the 25th of July, we have invited some great speakers: Prof. Dr. Peter Vöhringer, Dr. Carolin Müller, and Dr. Deanne Nolan. The talks will focus on the dos and don’ts of publishing your research, post-PhD career paths, and more – tailored towards the PhD experience.

The ySPPCC schedule was created with local festivities and – most importantly – the main ISPPCC conference in mind. The program is complementary, so we highly encourage all PhDs to take advantage of the entire conference program.

We have a few more slots for oral presentation at ySPPCC - extended submission deadline 10/April/2023!
