Research Seminar "Emerging Research in Management Accounting & Control"
The Research Seminar “Emerging Research in Management Accounting & Control” is an international forum for doctoral researchers in the field of management accounting and control. It welcomes both early-stage projects and advanced working papers, providing a supportive and rigorous environment for presenting research and receiving constructive feedback.
The seminar fosters international academic exchange and networking among PhD candidates and scholars from different institutions and countries. Participants benefit from in-depth discussions, diverse methodological perspectives, and opportunities for future collaboration.
The program includes keynote lectures by established scholars, who share insights into publishing, research development, and academic career paths. A joint social event and dinner complement the academic sessions and encourage informal exchange.

Highlights from Previous Seminars
On September 30, 2025, the international Research Seminar Emerging Research in Management Accounting and Control took place for the second time at Ulm University. Around 25 participants, including doctoral researchers and professors, discussed current topics in management accounting and control. The program featured keynote lectures by Saskia Opitz (WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management) on Research in Collaboration with Firms and Judith Künneke (Tilburg University, Netherlands) on Higher-Order Skills and Careers. Seven doctoral researchers also presented their projects, ranging from early-stage ideas to advanced studies.

The seminar was held for the first time on November 12, 2024, featuring three keynote lectures: Felix Fritsch (University of Mannheim) on New Data Sources in Management Accounting Research, Kai Alexander Bauch (University of Kaiserslautern-Landau) on Using Experiments Effectively, and Simeon Schudy (Ulm University) on Team Performance in Non-Routine Analytical Tasks: Incentives, Competition, and Leadership. In addition, five doctoral researchers presented their projects, covering work at different stages from initial ideas to advanced studies.
