Mathias Klier holds the Péter Horváth endowed professorship for Business Management/Administration with a focus on Business Information Management at the Institute for Business Analytics at Ulm University. His research interests lie in particular in the areas of big data analytics, data quality, (explainable) artificial intelligence and social media and the social impact of IS.

Mathias Klier, born in 1979 in Friedberg (Bavaria), studied Mathematics and Management at the University of Augsburg until 2005. For his thesis entitled "Measurement of data quality and economic evaluation of data quality measures - a dynamic optimisation model using the example of a mobile phone provider", he received the Vodafone Foundation Award for research in the field of market/customer orientation. From June 2005 to January 2009, he worked as a scientific assistant at the Chair of Management Information Systems, Information and Financial Management at the University of Augsburg. In February 2008, he completed his doctorate on the topic of "Designing customer-centred information systems - contributions to the planning and evaluation of data quality measures and communication standards". He was awarded the Swabian economic viability science prize for his doctoral thesis, PhD thesis. From March 2009 to February 2012, Mathias Klier was Assistant Professor at the Institute for Management Information Systems, Production Management and Logistics at the University of Innsbruck. In April 2012, he took over the newly created professorship for Management Information Systems - Quality Management and Quality Assurance at the University of Regensburg (initially as a substitute). Since September 2015, Mathias Klier has held the Péter Horváth endowed professorship for Business Management/Administration with a focus on Business Information Management and is Professor of the Institute for Business Analytics at Ulm University.

Mathias Klier is active as a reviewer, associate editor and track chair of international conferences such as the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) and the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS). He is the author of numerous articles in books and journals such as ACM Journal of Data and Information Quality, Decision Support Systems, Electronic Markets, Journal of Information Science and Journal of Management Information Systems. Furthermore, he has presented the results of his work at international scientific conferences such as European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS), International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) or International Conference on Management Information Systems (WI) .
