Our multiple dividing-wall column has been selected for the “99 Projects for a Post-Fossil Future” initiative by the Baden-Württemberg State Rectors’ Conference. The initiative highlights research projects from universities across Baden-Württemberg that contribute to a more sustainable future with reduced dependence on fossil resources.
Developed within the Thermal Process Engineering Group as part of theChemical Engineering, Ulm Universitythe system enables mixtures to be separated with particularly significant energy savings. Several distillation steps that would normally require separate units are combined in a single column, significantly reducing both energy demand and investment costs.
We are delighted that our work has received this recognition and greater visibility in the field of energy-efficient separation technologies. Being included among the 99 projects underlines the relevance of process engineering innovations for the transition toward a climate-neutral and resource-efficient industry.
