The CDR Terra project is a German federal research program funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). It investigates land-based methods for removing CO₂ from the atmosphere (Carbon Dioxide Removal, CDR).
The project is carried out by multiple university and research consortia across Germany. We are proud and delighted to have become part of the CDRterra consortium with our own joint research project involving the University of Ulm (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Robert Güttel and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Grützner) and the Technical University of Munich (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jakob Burger and Prof. Dr. Nicolas Plumeré). In our subproject, we are working on the removal of CO2 directly from the atmosphere using industrial cooling towers that are repurposed as absorbers, as well as the electrochemical regeneration of the solvent used. We are grateful for the financial support and are very much looking forward to this exciting project.
