Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing interleave-division multiple access (OFDM-IDMA) has been proposed as a wireless communication system with several advantages. The problem of the intersymbol interference in wireless channels is combated by the cyclic prefix of OFDM, while the multiple access interference resulting from the non-orthogonal transmission scheme is eliminated or reduced by the iterative turbo-type receiver of IDMA. OFDM-IDMA is a communication system with high band-width efficiency and provides diversity against fading. Combined with superposition coded modulation it allows for a flexible rate adaption. However, for channels with a large carrier frequency offset the performance of an OFDM-IDMA system with a standard receiver detoriates substantially due to the inter-carrier interference. Recently, various
improved receiver concepts have been proposed which (partly) overcome this disadvantage. Goal of this thesis is to implement the wireless communication system OFDM-IDMA in Matlab and investigate its performance for various system and channel conditions. Based on variance transfer charts, the performance of the different iterative receiver concepts should be analyzed and compared.
