Scientific Workshop - Warehouse

The Scientific Workshop has two warehouses. The Material & Standard Parts Warehouse located at Building M25 where you can mainly obtain raw materials and standard parts for mechanical processing, and the Electronics Warehouse located at Building O26 (Level 1) where you can get electronic components.

  • The main task of the Material & Standard Parts Warehouse and the Electronics Warehouse is to provide raw materials, standard parts, electronic components, tools, and consumables for the employees of the Scientific Workshop to process their orders.

  • The mentioned items, as well as small materials such as batteries, screws, etc., are handed over to the employees of the institutes and departments of the University of Ulm. For this purpose, the specification of a cost center is necessary.

  • The same items can be handed over to members of the University of Ulm in household quantities against payment using the university ID-Chipcard.

  • Tools can be lent (provided there are sufficient stocks in the warehouse).

We have parts in stock that you can take with you, while others will need to be ordered.
If you let us know how urgently you need the parts, it will help us with our planning.

Here's what we have:

For university needs (institutes and clinics), we have common components in stock (see ⇒ inventory list). We're also happy to help with "exotic" components from our drawers. Everything else can typically be ordered at a low cost on a short-term basis. Ideally, you can provide the exact part number (see ⇒ suppliers) to avoid confusion.

Private sales of materials to university staff/students using the wallet function of the chip card are possible.

Here's what we have in stock (⇒ inventory list):
  • Plastic and metal housings
  • Passive electronic components
  • Active components (transistors, analog, 74.., CMos,...)
  • Boards (perforated, ...)
  • Cables, wires
  • Heat shrink tubing
  • Connectors
  • Copper wire
  • Transformers, power supplies
  • Standard batteries
  • ...

Note: The inventory list may not reflect the current stock.
Please contact us by phone, email, or in person for availability and special requests.

Here's what we don't have:
  • PC accessories (cables, expansion cards, CD-RWs...) are not typically in stock.
  • Halogen lamps + bulbs (230V, except for some signal lamps)
  • Fluorescent tubes, particularly for room lighting (please inquire with the caretakers or building technology department (Dez V-2))
  • Large quantities of batteries (please order in advance)

Note:

For many items, it's not worth "stockpiling" larger quantities due to short distributor lead times and technological half-lives. If you plan ahead a little and classify your needs as "urgent," "soon," or "can wait two weeks," it will help us plan our orders. We strive to obtain favorable quantity discounts and keep the shipping costs low. On the other hand, we're required to charge a storage fee for our activity in accordance with the workshop order.
