AMBAGraph: Fast and Interactive Scientific Graph Visualizations with WebGL and Vue3

Scientific publications are one of the central pillars of science. They serve to hold and publish obtained discoveries. Thus, they represent a collection of gathered knowledge.
Research results are represented by the full text of the publication.
The full context of the findings is usually not contained in the full text but the publications’ metadata and relationships. This information can be used by bibliometric analyses to provide insight into the structure and dynamics to provide a profound understanding of the research field. A profound understanding is crucial for the work in the scientific community. The analyses are tied to a variety of required skills. Statistical as well as computer and domain knowledge are required. One way of overcoming these challenges is to use appropriate software systems that support users in such analyses and automate parts of the analyses. High usability and portability are required to make these analyses available to a broad user base.
In this thesis, AMBAGraph was developed, which is a software system designed to facilitate access to bibliometric analysis. The goal is to support the user in the entire process of bibliometric analysis. Starting with objective definition and, thus, analysis parameterization, the system handles the execution and appropriate visualization of the analysis. To meet the requirements, the system uses modern web technologies such as WebGL and Vue3. In this thesis, prerequisites are analyzed, a concept is designed and finally implemented. Furthermore, two use cases for bibliometric analysis are discussed in more detail. The implementation of AMBAGraph uses data from a bibliometric platform called Ambalytics, and is embedded as a front end of the latter.
