Call for Proposal: Doctoral scholarships under the Postgraduate Scholarships Act of the Land of Baden-Württemberg (LGFG)

 

The University of Ulm offers five doctoral scholarships under the Postgraduate Scholarships Act of the Land of Baden-Württemberg (LGFG) to highly qualified junior staff members starting on the 1st of July 2026.

You may apply for a scholarship provided that:

  • you have a university degree,
  • you started your PhD studies not before the 1st of April 2025,
  • you are highly qualified,
  • you have a project with a significant contribution to research,
  • you are a PhD student of your faculty (written proof needs to be submitted before the start of the scholarship).

Important: Ulm University may not grant scholarships to its own employees. Accepting the scholarship means you may not have a concurrent gainful employment at Ulm University.

Please use the application form and add the folowing documents:

  • a work shedule comprising a timeframe,
  • referee`s statement by your academic supervisor (1st referee),
  • referee`s statement by another person, who would be permitted to function as academic supervisor according to the faculty`s regulations (2nd referee),
  • copies of university examination certificates (University may request copies to be certified),
  • confirmation by the faculty that you are accepted as a doctoral candidate and you are academically supervised by a university lecturer,
  • a curriculum vitae providing information on, in particular, previous studies, special achievements and experiences.

The current standard funding rate for the scholarship is 1.750 EUR per month. 

The initial duration of the scholarship is one year. In addition, upon request within the limits of available funds, there is the possibility of an extension for two additional years (standard funding period being maximum 3 years).
