Diversity as an Opportunity: Our Intercultural Training for Students
Schools and Universities are places where people come together. Pupils and teachers alike bring increasingly diverse experiences of migration, as well as different social and religious backgrounds, into their everyday school and University lives.
This often creates the potential for misunderstandings, friction or unintentional exclusion when people interact. At the same time, this is precisely where a huge opportunity lies: these differences are valuable resources and skills that offer real added value to everyday life.
To support trainee teachers and international students in tackling these challenges with confidence and resilience, we offer our interactive intercultural training programme every semester.
What to expect from the seminar
The training is aimed specifically at teacher training students at Ulm University and at international students currently studying with us. The aim is to work together to develop an appreciative, constructive and fair approach to diversity – in the classroom and beyond.
The seminar’s key focus areas:
Reflection: Recognising and questioning one’s own and others’ cultural and social differences.
Value-based approach: Engaging deeply with one’s own attitudes and upbringings.
Practical skills: Learning about specific solutions and approaches for tackling racism and discrimination.
The workshop is led by an external expert who, as an experienced trainer in intercultural skills and diversity management, brings valuable insights from real-world practice.
