Investigation of Polarimetric Radar Sensors in an Automotive Scenario

Polarimetric radar sensors have long been in use in the marine and aerospace domain to overcome various challenges, the most common being suppression of rain clutter. In the automotive sector however, there is still a shortage of research material regarding use of polarimetric radar sensors.

In this thesis the aim of the student would be to use available radar sensors with polarimetic capability to investigate what new information can be achieved with the help of polarimetric radar imaging of objects and scenarios which are commonly encountered in an everyday automotive setting.
