Investigation of Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) for Automotive Applications

Polarimetric radar sensors have long been in use in the marine and aerospace domain to overcome various challenges, the most common being suppression of rain clutter. In the automotive sector, however, there is still a shortage of research material regarding use of polarimetric radar sensors.

In this thesis the aim of the student would be to use available radar sensors with polarimetric capability and implemented SAR algorithms to implement polarimetric SAR initially with a linear rail unit and later with the radar test platform.
