Dr Andreas Obermeier

Andreas Obermeier is a post-doctoral researcher at the Péter Horváth Endowed Professorship for Business Management/Administration with a focus on Business Information Management at the Institute for Business Analytics at Ulm University. His research interests lie in particular in the areas of data value-oriented measurement of data quality and data-driven decision-making using analytics and AI. Vita

Andreas Obermeier, born in 1991 in Landau an der Isar (Bavaria), completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Physics and Management at Ulm University (2010-2016).

From September 2016 to November 2022, Andreas Obermeier worked as a scientific assistant at the Péter Horváth Endowed Professorship for Business Management/Administration with a focus on Business Information Management at Ulm University. In November 2022, he completed his doctorate on the topic of "Big Data (Quality) Analytics - Contributions to the Assessment of Data Quality and Data-Driven Decision-Making". The paper "Event-Driven Duplicate Detection: A Probability-Based Approach" contained in his doctoral thesis, PhD thesis was honoured with the Claudio Ciborra Award for the most innovative research paper at the 26th European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) in 2018. Andreas Obermeier has been a post-doctoral researcher at the Institute for Business Analytics at Ulm University since November 2022. As such, he leads the research group on data quality and uncertainty in AI applications, among other things. The close link between his research and academic training; (akad.: ) education was honoured with the Ulm University Teaching Award in 2025. Together with Dr Maximilian Förster, he was honoured for the innovative teaching concepts of the course "Methods of Management Information Systems".

Andreas Obermeier is active as a reviewer and associate editor of international journals (e.g. Electronic Markets (EM), Journal of Decision Systems (JDS)) and conferences (e.g. International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS), International Conference on Management Information Systems (WI)). He publishes his scientific contributions in the field of Management Information Systems in international journals such as Management Information Systems Quarterly (MISQ), Business & Information Systems Engineering (BISE), Electronic Markets (EM) or Journal of Decision Systems (JDS) and presents the results of his work at international scientific conferences such as International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) or International Conference on Design Science Research in Information Systems and Technology (DESRIST).
