Tasks of the Biochemistry Examination Board
The examination board approves external final theses. You can find more information here.
The Bachelor's or Master's thesis can be extended upon justified request (see § 18 (5) of the ASPO 2022 or § 16c (7) of the General Examination Regulations 2017).
Please note that extensions must always be applied for immediately after the reason arises! All applications will be reviewed and an appropriate extension will be granted if there are reasonable grounds.
Applications for extensions to the final thesis must be submitted to the Biochemistry Examination Board 2 weeks before the first submission deadline.
Please complete the following form for extensions: PO 2022 PO 2017
Please send the application by email to pa.biochemie(at)uni-ulm.de.
If you wish to apply for an extension due to illness, please have your doctor fill out the form for the certificate of incapacity to take examinations and submit the original directly to the Student Administration Office without delay. Unfortunately, a simple certificate of incapacity to work from your doctor is not sufficient for an extension due to illness. The deadline is then usually extended by the duration of the sick note.
In § 7 of the FSPO 2022 as well as in § 6 of the FSPO 2017 you will find examination deadlines, non-compliance with which leads to the loss of the right to take examinations (unless the student is not responsible for missing the deadline).
According to § 8 (3) of the ASPO 2022, the examination entitlement is not lost if students are not responsible for missing the deadline and notify the Chair of the Examination Board immediately before the deadline expires.
In such a case, please submit an informal application to pa.biochemie(at)uni-ulm.de and state in the application why you need an extension and by how many semesters.
If you need support or have any questions, please make an appointment with Dr. John (appointments can be made via the moodle course Studienkommission Biologie).
Information on academic leave can be found here.
If you are planning to take a leave of absence due to a practical activity, you must complete the Academic leave application form and submit it to the Biochemistry Examination Board together with proof of the reason for the leave of absence (e.g. internship contract, confirmation of internship, etc.) and a detailed explanation of why the planned practical activity serves the purpose of your studies. The examination board will then review the application, in particular with regard to whether the planned practical activity serves the study objective and is not part of the study and examination regulations.
You can find information on BAföG on the pages of the Studierendenwerk.
Please fill out the certificate of achievement according to § 48 BAföG (form 5) or the application for a flexible semester with your data and send it with your current transcript of records to pa.biochemie(at)uni-ulm.de.
On the web pages of the central student advisory services you can find detailed information on Studying with a disability as well as Studying with family responsibilities.
If necessary, please submit an application for compensation for disadvantages to pa.biochemie(at)uni-ulm.de.
If you need support or have any questions, please make an appointment with Dr. John (appointments can be made via the moodle course Studienkommission Biologie).
