Johannes Basch receives his doctorate for his work on technology-mediated recruitment interviews

Universität Ulm

Our colleague Johannes Basch successfully defended his dissertation. Congratulations!
In the course of his work, Johannes has investigated the reasons for the differences in performance and acceptance between traditional job interviews and technology-mediated interviews (video conference interviews, asynchronous video interviews). Among other things, he found that technology mediation negatively influences the interviewer's sense of social presence, which in turn limits the ability of applicants to use tactics to present themselves in a positive light. On the one hand, this can limit the perceived fairness of such interviews. On the other hand, it also leads to applicants performing worse in these interviews.
