Design of performance measures
Performance measures, also known as key performance indicators, are considered a central management tool for setting goals and evaluating the performance of individuals, departments, processes and companies. However, if they are inadequately designed, they can create false incentives and cause dysfunctional effects or even impair the success of the company. Their benefit therefore depends largely on the fulfilment of clearly defined quality criteria.
In this module, students acquire in-depth knowledge of how to design high-quality performance measures. Using a written case study, which is presented and discussed, they apply this knowledge in a practical way. They learn how to develop indicators that fulfil criteria such as objectivity and validity and are made aware of the risks of suboptimal measurement systems. After completing the module, they will be able to independently design suitable performance measures for all operational functions.

Die Vergabe der Leistungspunkte erfolgt aufgrund der vollständigen Bearbeitung einer Fallstudie. Die Note der Modulprüfung ergibt sich aus den Noten der Ausarbeitung und der Präsentation. Im Transcript of Records wird die errechnete Note für die Modulprüfung als eine Prüfungsleistung eingetragen und ausgewiesen.

Aufgrund des didaktischen Konzepts ist die Veranstaltung auf 30 Studierende begrenzt.
Eine Anmeldung für das SoSe 2026 ist per E-Mail an Natalie Rupp möglich. Die Anmeldung erfolgt nach dem „First Come-First Serve“-Prinzip, d.h. sobald 30 Anmeldungen eingegangen sind, ist der Kurs vollständig besetzt.
