Geared towards the future
At the Ulm Medical Faculty, around 100 appointed professors and 1,500 academic staff are currently researching and teaching on topics of high scientific relevance in close cooperation with Ulm University and Ulm University Hospital.
The scientific work focuses on the following areas:
- Transdisciplinary trauma research
- Ageing research
- Haematology and oncology
- Neurodegeneration
- Translational peptide research
These focus areas are reinforced by targeted appointments and expanded on an interdisciplinary basis. For example, additional professorships will be established for the "Neurodegeneration" focus area at the DZNE site in Ulm, which has been in existence since 2018, together with the DZNE. The aim is also to establish further focus areas with reinforced future potential across faculties.
Professorship
We are growing: between 2015 and 2023 alone, the Medical Faculty in Ulm filled 46 new professorships. On the one hand, this was due to the generational change, and on the other hand, the significant expansion of the science centre in recent years required increased support in research and teaching.
