"Sehen und darüber hinaus"
New book sheds light on vision from various scientific perspectives

Ulm University

The eye, and therefore vision, is an important sensory organ that influences all areas of our lives. The new book "Sehen und darüber hinaus" (Seeing and beyond) deals with its wide range. A collective of authors, consisting of Frank Müller, Peter Walter, Marcel Schweiker and Werner van Haren in addition to Anke Huckauf, Professor of General Psychology at Ulm University, shed light on vision from various scientific perspectives. Contributions from the fields of Psychology, Medicine, Neurobiology, Architecture and Psychotherapy discuss areas of visual experience. Sometimes the focus is on scientific fundamentals, sometimes on more specific topics and methods, such as reading emotions or active vision. Visually impaired and blind patients also have their say.

The book is particularly suitable for laypeople and anyone interested in delving deeper into the interconnectedness of vision, life and well-being. It is a plea for the special value of sight and for taking good care of it.

"Sehen und darüber hinaus" has already been available as an e-book for a few days and will be published in printed form by Springer Verlag on 16 June 2025.
