Research seminar: ‘Emerging Research in Management Accounting & Control’

Ulm University

On 22 and 23 September 2026, our research seminar ‘Emerging Research in Management Accounting & Control’ took place for the third year running. Once again this year, the event was made possible by a generous donation from the Péter Horváth Foundation and was organised in collaboration with the International Performance Research Institute.

Over the course of two days, researchers gathered at the Barbara Mez-Starck Haus to present their their latest research projects in the field of Management Accounting and Control, and to receive valuable feedback from fellow academics.

Particular highlights were the two keynote presentations by:

  • Nina Schwaiger, Professor at Darmstadt Technical University, on the topic 'Management Control Consistency: Aligning Controls Across Levels, Units, and Systems’, and
  • Ivo Schedlinsky, Associate Professor at the LMU Munich School of Management, who spoke on ‘Towards a Multidimensional Perspective on Employee Performance in Management Control Systems’.

In addition to the engaging presentations and lively discussions, the event also provided ample opportunities for informal exchange - for example, during dinner on the first evening at the ‘Zunfthaus der Fischerleute’ in Ulm's picturesque fishermen's quarter, and over lunch overlooking the Allgäu.
