Z01 – Peptide libraries, purification, synthesis and structural analyses (Timo Jacob, Ute Kaiser, Clarissa Read, Ludger Ständker, Manfred Wagner, Sebastian Wiese)

Due to the enormous complexity of the human peptidome, purification of individual bioactive peptides is an ambitious task. This platform offers all technologies required for isolation and identification of these entities by providing a plethora of peptide libraries, isolation strategies and mass spectrometric tools. In addition, NMR-based structural peptide analysis as well as innovative molecular modelling approaches are available for characterization of candidate peptides. Biological and high-resolution electron microscopy allow to examine effects of peptides on cellular and viral structures and aim to permit imaging of single peptides. Thus, this platform provides key technologies and expertise for peptide discovery and characterization.
