Z01 – Peptide libraries, purification, synthesis and structural analyses (Timo Jacob, Ute Kaiser, Ludger Ständker, Manfred Wagner, Sebastian Wiese)
The enormous complexity of the human peptidome with millions of diverse molecules makes purification of individual bioactive peptides for detailed characterization and optimization a highly ambitious aim. To achieve it, this technology platform provides peptide libraries from body fluids and tissues, state of the art proteomics technologies for peptide identification and access to structural peptide analysis as well as innovative molecular modelling approaches. It also includes the first sub-angstrom low-voltage electron (SALVE) microscope that might provide a means for high-resolution imaging of single peptides. Thus, this platform provides key technologies and expertise for the discovery and characterization of bioactive peptides.
