Dr. Beate Griepernau
Beate Griepernau studied Physics at the University of Bonn and the University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia). She earned her doctorate at Saarland University, where she performed simulations of lipid bilayers to address biomedically motivated research questions at the Center for Bioinformatics.
Driven by a strong engagement in sports - as both an athlete and a coach - and working as a course instructor for (baby-)swimming, artistic roller skating, and physical education, she additionally completed a Master in Exercise and Sport Sciences at the German Sport University Cologne. In her Master’s thesis she investigated Neurophysiological mechanisms of sensorimotor adaptation.
Later, through her work in inclusive settings with children and their parents, she decided to broaden her expertise further and obtained a Master in Psychology at Ulm University. With a focus of interest on child development and parent-child interactions, she joined the Chair of Clinical and Biological Psychology in 2024, writing her Master’s thesis within the 2e-kids project.
Parallel to her academic career, she has worked for over ten years as a research manager at the Universities of Siegen, Cologne, and Ulm University.
