Workshop on ePDF

30th of August – 1st of September 2020, Kutná Hora, Czech Republic

The workshop will comprise two and a half days of lectures by renown international researchers complemented by ample opportunities for discussions. The topical focus is devoted to electron scattering phenomena beyond Bragg diffraction, calculation of pair distribution function from electron diffraction data (ePDF), interpretation of the data and the strength and limitation of the method. The broad range of topics and lecturers aims to open up new perspectives and will help participants to identify synergies in existing research and give rise to new ideas and initiatives.

The program will include sessions devoted to

  • the methodology of PDF and its applications
  • the specialities of electron total scattering data collection, processing and interpretation
  • present modern software for ePDF calculation
  • refinement of ePDF data
  • applications of Debye scattering techniques for electrons
  • ePDF calculation from textured diffraction data

Organisational issues

  • The workshop will be located in the historic city Kutná Hora.
  • It is organized as a satellite event to IUCr meeting in Prague, Czech Republic on 22-30 August 2020.
  • To facilitate participation in both events, a bus transfer after the IUCr closing ceremony from Prague to Kutná Hora on August 29th and return to Prague on Sep. 1st will be provided (less than 1 hour by bus).
  • The registration for the workshop is done via the registration mask of IUCr Congress in Prague. The  registration deadline is 30th of June 2020.
  • The registration fee covers the bus transfer from Prague to Kutná Hora and back, the accommodation costs during the workshop, and the meals. Information of the workshop costs as well as the payment procedure can be found on the webpage of IUCr Congress in Prague.
  • Statement on gender balance: the organizers encourage female researches, students and early career scientists to participate and contribute to the discussion. The organizes follow the gender related recommendations and rules of IUCr.
