KZ03 - Counteracting amyloid-mediated enhancement of HIV-1 infection

Semen is the major vehicle for HIV transmission and contains amyloid fibrils that boost viral infectivity. The aim of this project is to develop novel small molecule inhibitors that antagonize amyloid fibrils in semen and to evaluate their potential as microbicide to prevent sexual spread of HIV. The applicant should have expertise in molecular biology and/or nanotechnology and an interest to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment.
