Dear supervisors,
Since 15 November 2022, new doctoral degree regulations have been in force for obtaining a doctorate in Medicine or Dentistry. Please read these regulations in conjunction with the Regulatory framework for doctoral studies at Ulm University.
From 01.06.2023 the following applies
When submitting the application for acceptance as a PhD student, the particulars according to § 5 para. 3 PromO must be fulfilled: Each doctoral project is then additionally supported by a scientific supervisor.
Requirements for the scientific supervisor:
- is qualified to teach and supervise doctoral/PhD candidates at the Medical Faculty of Ulm University or has an appointment there
- is an expert, but assigned to a different institution / clinic / institute than the supervisor
- in the case of supervisors not employed at Ulm University or Ulm University Hospital (incl. teaching hospitals), the scientific supervisor must be employed at Ulm University or Ulm University Hospital
- No dependency on the supervisor / no personal relationships
Tasks of the scientific supervisor:
- Submission of a statement on the concept of the doctoral project (form) when applying for admission and acceptance as a PhD student
- Signs, in addition to the supervisor, the doctoral agreement
- Documentation of the regular meetings
- Is the examiner (selected examiner) in the colloquium
