• Grundlagen der Biologie (Fundamentals of biology) [13 LP]:
  Parts of the module Fundamentals of biology for teaching profession:
  • lecture Allgemeine Zoologie (General Zoology),

  • lecture Zellbiologie (Cell Biology) and
  • the Botanical and Zoological basic exercises (compulsory attendance!)
  
  There is a common examination on all parts at the end of the lecture period of the winter semester.

• Systematik und Evolution (Systematics and evolution) [in total 8 LP]:
  Parts of the module Systematics and Evolution for teaching profession:

  One oral exam along with "Molecular Biology, Infection Biology and Genetic Engineering" at the end of the summer semester.

• During 2nd or 3rd semester: Choice of biological modules [in total 11 LP]:
  
  For the elective module, a number of modules from the fields of neurobiology and ecology are offered, some of which include molecular biology methods.
  The modules are aligned and interlocked with modules from the M. Sc. Biology, or advanced semesters of the Bachelor Biology.
  
  Some modules have a volume of 11 or 12 LP and thus alone fulfill the requirements for the elective module.
  Others add up to 9 LP and must be combined with one of the 3 credit modules also listed.
  The modules with 9, 11 or 12 LP all include an advanced internship or exercise component. Such a course must be included in the Master Lehramt, which is why at least one of these modules must be taken.
  Accordingly, a maximum of three of the modules with 3 LP may be taken.
  
  The list of elective modules may be extended upon the proposal of the student council (FS) Teaching profession or by lecturers after approval by the study committee.

• Fachdidaktik II (Didactics II) [5 LP]
  The content is mainly about...
  • external educational locations (e.g. botanical garden),
  • practical, nature education topics and
  • the integration of digital media (identification apps, geo-games, etc.) into the classroom.
  
  Various dates with theoretical and practical parts in the summer semester.

• During 2nd or 4th semester: Excursion [3 LP]:

The 3 credit points for the excursion are awarded for participation in an excursion lasting several days (= at least 4 days).
The excursions are usually offered in the summer semester or in the lecture-free period after the summer semester and are announced via the website, notices and by circular email.

Regularly scheduled excursions include:

• Ökologie der Alpen (Ecology of the Alps)
• Neusiedler See (Lake Neusiedl)
• Kreta

The excursion can also be completed by taking another module that includes a substantial excursion component in addition to the elective module.
The corresponding modules are marked in this list with "Exk.".

  Seminar with practical parts, one afternoon per week
  The aim of the Didactics III is to supplement the subject content of biology from the master's degree with a subject didactic elaboration in order to ensure the transfer of new scientific findings into grammar school teaching.

• During 2nd or 4th semester: Excursion [3 LP]:
  The 3 credit points for the excursion are awarded for participation in an excursion lasting several days (= at least 4 days).
  The excursions are usually offered in the summer semester or in the lecture-free period after the summer semester and are announced via the website, notices and by circular email.

Most of the course organization is done on the learning platform Moodle - so it is a prerequisite for your studies to know how to use Moodle. You can find a helpful overview here.

Moodle provides a central learning platform for teachers and students. Moodle is used to accompany face-to-face courses and digitally organize online modules. In addition, Moodle can be used for pure online teaching and also as a workgroup system for research and working groups, for example.
