Latest progress on single-mode and high-power blue to green laser diodes

The number of applications using semiconductor lasers is strongly increasing: a tremendous performance increase over the past years enabled new laser designs and application fields.
Semiconductor lasers exhibit a different far field pattern combined with a significantly higher luminance compared to LED. This offers new applications.
Nitride-based laser diodes are used for augmented reality and business projection as well as for phosphor-converted automotive headlamps. Thus both, efficient low power single mode as well as high power multi-mode lasers, have to be addressed in development and production.
Besides performance, reliability and finally the cost reduction of the devices are key factors for success. During the presentation we will discuss the current status, actual technological challenges and future perspectives for Nitride-based laser diodes.

Coffee and tea for the colloquium's guests at 16:00 in front of the lecture hall.
