KZ06 - Structure elucidation of a membrane protein with X-Ray and Nanoparticle Sensors

KZ06 - work package 1

G-Protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) constitute more than 50% of the current drug targets, but are challenging in structure analysis. In the present project, bacterial expression in inclusion bodies followed by in vitro refolding, crystallization in lipidic cubic phases and eventually X-ray diffraction will be explored as a generic method to obtain structural information on this important target class.

KZ06 - work package 2

Preparation, surface functionalization and bioconjugation of nanoparticle sensors to a GPCR as well as characterization of the produced constructs. The applicant should have experience in organic synthesis and/or nanoparticle preparation and characterization.
